Clinics / Demonstrations

Horsemanship

It is extremely important that the human know what to do to get what they need from the horse.  Patrick offers clinics, workshops and demonstrations to help you understand how to present yourself to your horse so that he can better understand what you are asking him. You'll be working toward developing an understanding of how your horse feels and learns, as well as acquiring the tools needed to build a solid foundation, naturally.  This is the beginning of a new relationship with horses.  The foundation in groundwork will help to build a secure, confident, relaxed, supple, and thinking horse.   In the saddle, after applying the groundwork, you will begin to reap the benefits from the new foundation, learning how to help the horse to move with you with the slightest suggestion.  Once you have learned how to speak to the horse in his language, the horse and rider have a much greater potential of reaching goals for any discipline in harmony and unity.  By teaching you fundamental horsemanship exercises, Patrick will help you develop the skills needed to stay safe and become a confident, progressive leader for the horse.

Colt Starting/Re-Starting

Having your horse started under saddle should be an investment in his future.   A solid foundation, based on mutual trust, respect, and communication, is absolutely necessary for every horse, no matter the breed, discipline, age, or experience.   Using the principles of natural horsemanship, your horse will get the best start possible, and be on the road to developing the best foundation possible.   This is a special opportunity to have the foundation put in place for you - solving most any problems, or simply taking your horse to a higher level of refinement by creating a new means of communicating, mutually and naturally.   We get the horse physically right, by first getting him mentally right.   Patrick will build a natural foundation from feel, without force, fear, or gimmicks.   What is developed here will be a secure, confident, willing partner.   Patrick refuses to compromise your horse's dignity to get instant results.   He will achieve faster, longer-lasting results than other 'professional trainers' by creating an environment wherein the horse wants to learn and work with the human, rather than in spite of the human.

Once your horse has a solid foundation is in place, he can be further developed and specialized into whatever area and discipline you desire.    Set your horse up to succeed in any event: Western pleasure, Dressage, Reining, Jumping, Cutting, Barrel racing, Saddleseat, Eventing, Trail riding, Team penning, Driving, etc...

Patrick encourages event hosting and training coordination by folks who share the same passion and dedication to the horse.  Hosts and coordinators are a vital link between Patrick and area horses/riders.  If you're interested in hosting an event or coordinating training in your area, contact Patrick.

Demonstrations are a great way to introduce Patrick and his clinics/events to your area and to help stimulate interest in clinics and on-location training/colt starting.  Demonstrations are enjoyed by everyone – no matter the age, equine experience level or riding discipline.   By using horses that need started under saddle, exhibit poor ground manners, trailer loading difficulties, or riding problems, attendees can begin to appreciate what's available through Patrick's training, clinics and other events.

In many areas, there are “area coordinator” positions available for coordination of training, lessons, clinics, workshops, or demonstrations.   Being an area coordinator has many advantages, such as: discounts, priority scheduling, free admission at certain events with Patrick, etc.
