Learn
about the feel, timing, and balance
required to achieve excellence with horses - and learn about the 'one other
thing that makes it all work.'
Attend a Horsemanship Clinic
with Patrick King and you will begin to understand feel, timing, and balance
with a horse.
Groundwork
This portion of the clinic is
about getting a horse useful on the ground. It's not about fancy tricks or
maneuvers, it's about plain usefulness, lightness, respect, trust, and harmony.
Learn how to break down the braces in your horse's mind and body so that he is
mentally and physically with you.
Once you have lightness, respect,
trust, and harmony, you can get a horse beyond plain usefulness to the point
that he's handy. Once he's handy, then you can add the fancy maneuvers if
you like - and they will be easy to teach and develop because you already have
the lightness, respect, trust, and harmony in place already.
Riding
Just like you did on the ground,
once you get in the saddle, you will learn to break down the brace's in the
horse's mind and body so that he can be mentally and physically with you.
Riding a horse is simply not falling off.
True horsemanship is about understanding and controlling every muscle,
every movement, and every emotion at every moment.
Patrick will break down the basics
of horsemanship to help you discover and eliminate your horse's braces.
Again, it's not about tricks to start with... it's about lightness, respect,
trust, and harmony. Once you have that, you can easily build on it to
develop more advanced communication and maneuvers.
Every horsemanship clinic is
tailored specifically to the horses and riders that show up, but the basics are
always the same.
Topics covered in
every clinic are:
Feel
Timing
Cadence
Desensitizing
Speed control
Lightness and softness
Rein and leg positions
Control of the hindquarters
Control of the front end
Operating the life in the horse
Finding the opportunities within
every difficulty
