- Trailer Loading
Why is it that so many people have so many
problems when it comes to trailer loading? Have you ever noticed
that horses will throw at you every movement, every objection, and every evasive
maneuver they have when they refuse to trailer load? What is it
about this task that is just so difficult for some horses? Well, if
you consider the horse's nature, in a nut-shell, trailer loading is one of the
scariest things that most horses are ever asked to do. It's
completely against their nature. Why any self-respecting prey animal
would allow himself to be crammed into a tin can (especially after a ride or two
in the trailer) has always been something that has amazed Patrick.
It seems that most horses are just mindlessly forced or coerced into a trailer,
with very little thought about the horse's point of view of the whole
situation....until the refusals and fights get 'bad enough.'
Unfortunately, there are some horses that never even get the opportunity to
learn about a better deal with trailer loading. Patrick has seen so
many horses over the years get seriously injured over trailer loading that he
now includes a trailer loading session in every clinic that he gives.
How can you avoid the fights and frustrations
over trailer loading? How can you get your horse to willingly and
confidently load himself into the trailer without you? Can your
horse really fall in love with the trailer?! Trailer loading,
done with the horse in mind, is one of the ultimate tests of a person's
horsemanship. Patrick offers trailer loading assistance to numerous
horses and people each year. He offers trailer loading
demonstrations to help horses overcome this challenge and allow humans a great
learning experience, and now includes a trailer loading segment with each clinic
that he conducts.

Patrick encourages
event hosting and training coordination by folks who share the same passion and dedication to the
horse. Hosts and coordinators are a vital link between Patrick and area horses/riders. If
you're interested in hosting an event or coordinating training in your area,
contact
Patrick.
Demonstrations are
a great way to introduce Patrick and his clinics/events to your area and to help
stimulate interest in clinics and on-location training/colt starting. Demonstrations are enjoyed by everyone – no matter
the age, equine experience level or riding discipline. By using horses that
need started under saddle, exhibit poor ground manners, trailer loading
difficulties, or riding problems, attendees can begin to appreciate what's
available through Patrick's training, clinics and other events.

In many
areas, there are “area coordinator” positions available for
coordination of training, lessons, clinics, workshops, or
demonstrations. Being an area coordinator has many advantages,
such as: discounts, priority scheduling, free admission at certain
events with Patrick, etc. |
